These errors are caused by upload interference from antivirus software or firewalls.
Antivirus Software
The ESET antivirus software, in particular, seems to cause upload difficulties. Below, you will find instructions on how to adjust the settings in that software to allow your computer to reliably upload files to our website.
If you do not have the ESET antivirus software on your computer, skip to the Firewalls section of this article.
If you do not feel comfortable making changes to your computer's antivirus software, do not make these changes. Give these instructions to your practice's IT support team so they can make these changes for you.
1.) Locate the ESET icon in your Windows system tray (green and white 'e'):
2.) Right-click the ESET icon and choose Open ESET... (the name of your ESET software may be different than what's shown in the screenshot below, but you will see ESET in the name):
3.) Click Setup:
4.) Click Advanced setup in the lower-right corner. If you are prompted to enter a password, you will need to contact your practice's IT support for assistance. If you are not prompted to enter a password, you can continue.
5.) Click WEB AND EMAIL on the left side of the window:
6.) Click SSL/TLS:
7.) Click Edit next to List of known certificates
8.) Click Add:
9.) Click URL:
10.) Type app.beamreaders.com and click OK:
11.) For Access action, click Allow (even if untrusted). For Scan action, click Ignore:
12.) Click OK to save these settings. The window should now look like this:
13.) If the app.beamreaders.com line you see matches the one in the screenshot above, click OK to save the settings.
14.) If asked if you want to allow the ESET Elevated Client to make changes to your computer, click Yes
15.) Click OK in any other ESET windows.
16.) If your web browser is open, close and reopen it so it will detect the updated ESET settings.
Firewalls
If your computer does not have the ESET antivirus software installed, another possible cause of upload difficulties is your practice's firewall. Sometimes, firewalls are configured to scan and potentially stop some outbound traffic from your practice network from reaching the internet. Your practice's IT support should be able to add a rule to the firewall to instruct it specifically not to interfere with traffic going to our website.
Contact your practice's IT support to let them know that you are having difficulties uploading files to us. They will probably ask you for the address of the website you are trying to upload files to so they can update the firewall settings to instruct it not to interfere with traffic going to our website. The address is https://app.beamreaders.com
